You missed the main point. American farmers are allowed to keep their hens in dirty unhealthy surroundings because the eggs will be cleaned. UK farmers have to keep their hens in clean healthy ways to produce eggs that the customers want to buy. Which of those systems sounds better to you?

UK and Europe prioritise consumer health in the food chain. US prioritises producer convienance with "acceptable consumer safety." That is the difference.

US: “Eggs need to be washed at exact temperatures, rinsed with a detergent and a chemical wash, then dried and refrigerated at all times”
EU: “Eggs are naturally protected”
Ryan: “Why is Europe overthinking this?!”

If you look at the bigger picture, the reason US eggs have to be washed is because the conditions that the chickens are reared in are so unsanitary that it would be literally unsafe to consume them if they weren't washed. In the UK and the rest of Europe, chickens are reared in much more sanitary conditions. So there's elements of animal welfare issues here as well as food safety issues.

It's amazing how aggressively you react, but you're missing the crucial explanation: washed eggs are susceptible to bacteria and therefore need to be refrigerated!

Essentially the biggest difference is the US way introduces multiple different stages that run the risk of making the egg less safe. All those crazy steps just to cover up poor farming practices

When the US does something so differently to the rest of the world - not just Europe - you have to ask yourself why and question if you are really doing it correctly.

7:56 actualy if you keep chickens properly, balanced food, not overcrowded - eggs are clean.
