  👑 At 76 and having taught at the college level for the past 20 years, I am thankful for the elementary, secondary, and higher education I received during the 1950s and 1960s. Yes, I attended Catholic schools, but even friends in public school learned the history of the West and the legacy of the Roman Empire. While those reading this comment might assume that Catholic educators automatically skewed the teaching of such history to benefit Catholicism, they should realize that most Catholic educators had, by that time, already adopted a healthy skepticism, allowing for a critical appraisal and presentation of Western history, Catholic or otherwise. What you present here is a much-needed continuation of that engagement.

  This seems to be a much more correct and also more informative descripton of the Holy Roman Empire than we would normally get from any youtube video.  Thanks so much!  Most rhetoric concerning the Holy Roman Empire is anti-Catholic, while Christ helped mankind to develop more just judicial systems and governing bodies, which, as the commentator said, prepared the way for even the US constitution.

  This is really a wonderful analysis of history and truthful. Having grown up in Lower Franconia (sic!) I was always a bit proud of my home’s Frankish heritage. We learned about Karl “The Hammer” Martell in history.
