On the one hand, the dunks have never been better. On the other, people want to see their favorite players compete. Maybe some kind of Pro/Am is the future?

I think personally I'd still rather see something like the Foot Locker Slamfest come back.

the high jump dunk legitimately knocked my socks off, also McClung has more in common with the pro dunkers than NBA players

Thankfully extensive highlights were posted online for those without TNT. These guys were awesome and the Finals were something else. These guys did stuff that blew Vince Carter contest highlights out of the water. Draymond was awful and has no business anywhere near a dunk contest, but Vince Carter was one of the other announcers and was great.

I think the NBA dunk contest is done and this contest really cements it. I think if the NBA wants to save All Star Weekend they need to ask what the stars are willing to participate in - 1v1? Horse? Because that's what really matters. Doing an NBA dunk contest just to do it and then field it with borderline NBA players to give worse dunks than the pro dunkers is something that serves no one.

Slam dunk brackets throughout half times or pre games of NBA cup games then the final four on all star weekend.
