  Russell Westbrook was skipped because he is retired. The Thunder retire his number after his first ballot Hall of Fame induction.<br><br>I do think the Nuggets should retire Carmelo’s number after Jokic retires. Then when Jokic gets in the 1st ballot of the Hall of Fame the Nuggets can retire 15 again but for Jokic.

  As a hornets fan I&apos;m a bit sad that we haven&apos;t retired kemba walkers #15 yet, I get that our team hasn&apos;t been successful but we should be honoring our loyal franchise goat

  Carmelo didn&apos;t choose NY in free agency right? They had to trade for him and gave away valuable assets that could&apos;ve helped with winning.<br><br>He could&apos;ve waited but his impatience hurt him and the knicks. Jamal Murray was the 7th pick acquired through pick swap. Also the 2014 pick that was 12th.

  I remember reading this article recently, as others said at the time the idea of retiring the number of a third contributor on a championship team is crazy to me, it should be only for the best of the best imo

  Not really surprising the differences between teams. Some franchises have storied histories, others have done nothing of note. Some franchises are old, others not so much. Some teams are stricter in their requirements for retirement than others, outside the frist argument. The key thing is generally that a player has to be very good and/or a franchise icon to be considered and leaving on a bad note might sour some chances.

  The NBA may as well retire number 23 across the board for all the different players who&apos;ve worn it.<br>The Boston Celtics have already retired a fifth of all available numbers.<br>It would be sad but not surprising if the Warriors never retired 11 for Klay Thompson.<br>OKC&apos;s only retired number (since they moved to OKC) is 4 for Nick Collison - 5.9ppg, 0 All-NBA selections<br>Miami retired number 13 for Dan Marino
