  The main issue is how lazily it's usually done. It's obviously more interesting to see them split up but they should be forced to isntead of chosing to.

  The Split Ups need to be organic. Like a chandelier falls and people run because the killer is charging up the chainsaw right after.

  I never paid much attention to this, but you're right. Imagine there are 8 people in your friend group, you and your friends are stuck in an abandoned house with a killer and someone says "let's split up", so you do and by some luck you find the exit and now you must go look for the 7 individuals in your group. Many things could go wrong in this scenario, number one you turn around the killer is already there looking at you or they strike you immediately, now you're dead and there's 7 more people they killer must go find and they're all walking alone. Number 2 you find the exit and now you must spend 2 hours or 30 minutes (if you're lucky) looking for each person in your group, not only us this dangerous but it will take longer to leave. But if you go as a group it won't take long.

  I have a Rule of 3. If you cant separate into groups of 3, you dont separate. Period. <br><br>3 people is ideal. Searching a room? 1 watches the door, 2 search the room.<br>Killer attacks? They may be able to handle 2, but likely not 3.

  The only time when spilting up is acceptable is if whatever were running from is stronger then all of us combined,if us teaming up isn&apos;t enough then they should spilt so the monster has to kill us one by one and hopefully one of us get a chance to excape

  I think I&apos;ve seen movies where the split up happens before anyone knows they&apos;re in danger. That makes sense. There are also some where the entity makes them think they are with someone they can trust

  This makes sense if it&apos;s a killer or something that can be defended against, but if the horror movie has something like ghosts or some monster so terrible that numbers means nothing. In that case splitting up might be the best strategy, as it would split their attention and take it away from you. Though at that point it&apos;s up to luck whether you can escape to safety before whatever is chasing you decides your it&apos;s next target. Basically the saying you don&apos;t need to run faster then the lion, you just need to run faster then the people next to you. It&apos;s a selfish method but if your in a horror situation like that, you can&apos;t really be picky with the method.

  A horror comedy movie that parodies this is Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. A group of friends stay together in a mansion during an upcoming storm. Someone ends up dead during a game of hide and seek, so the rest of the friends (who are women) are realistically scared shitless and stick together... Until tensions and paranoia gets to them. They self destruct. But when they were a group and trusted each other, they were doing well!

  Funny thing about that.... One of the classic comments I see from girls who are <b>*self-aware*</b> in these sorts of movies/scenarios.... &quot;Dude, we&apos;re girls. We don&apos;t even go to the <b>toilet</b> alone, and you want us to split up?!&quot;
