  I love that speculation that Q may have sent the Enterprise to encounter the Borg to ultimately save the galaxy from them!

  This is why Q, although an amoral and <i>seemingly</i> capricious &quot;trickster god,&quot; is not a villain. &nbsp;There is a clear overriding method to his madness.

  I bet they assimilated a jem hadar it knew nothing and died right after and were like nope going somewhere else 😂

  The Dominion were adapting during the war, just more slowly. They created new Jem&apos;Hadar designed to fight in the Alpha Quadrant. They were shown to be using a new longer range anti-cloak sensors in the episode with Kor.<br><br>The Dominion are more capable of denying information to the Borg. Jem&apos;Hadar can be ordered to destroy all Dominion technology and commit suicide if they&apos;re ever at risk of assimilation. They would also have no problem putting self destruct devices on all Dominon ships and technology to prevent assimilation. <br><br>The Dominon&apos;s willingness to sacrifice their own troops is a big advantage. We see on Voyager alien races that sacrificed their own people to stave off the Borg. Icheb was modified to pass a disease to the Borg that would kill their drones. The Dominion would have no problem developing those kinds of weapons.

  The Borg may have considered the Federation and particularly humanity as the more immediate concern and greater threat precisely because of their adaptability - the Borg Queen did find it vexing after the first few attempts failed.<br><br>The initial Locutus attack should have succeeded, and without much use of resources, just a single Cube.<br>From there, the Collective gains a useful foothold.<br><br>Yet Starfleet defeated them by original out of the box thinking, which was something new. Being out thought, not out fought.<br>The Borg had a serious firepower and technological advantage and it should have been a slam dunk for them, but they lost to trickery.<br><br>That was &quot;scary&quot; for the Collective.<br><br>Whereas an initial evaluation of the Dominion would be that it would be a brute force conflict.<br>And more importantly, that the Dominion were technologically stagnant and didn&apos;t adapt well.<br>So they could wait.<br>A few decades and the Dominion would be the same beast as it currently was. <br><br>But if they left the Federation alone, then humanity could in the relatively near future become a threat to the Collective.<br><br>It was happening in other timelines - and the Queen was aware of other timelines.<br><br>So the Dominion was a prize in terms of resources, but it was not going to get in their face anytime soon.<br>But they understood that humanity was coming their way in the form of Starfleet. And the only question was when humans pushed into Borg territory, had they had their morning coffee yet?

  We actually DO get to see what a fight between the Dominion and the Borg would look like in Star Trek Armada, the first borg mission has the player invade Dominion space and assimilate a cloning facility all with the aim of cloning Locutus, so he can organize the capture of the Omega Particle from the Tal Shiar.

  Remember that the cube from &quot;Best of Both Worlds&quot; was always going to come to Earth when it did, ever since the Collective had received the two-hundred-year-old message from the drones in &quot;Regeneration.&quot; Clearly Starfleet was unaware of the approaching threat, so Q arranged a dramatic meeting between the <i>Enterprise</i> and the Borg that gave the Federation just enough time to start making preparations. It&apos;s the good luck of everyone but the Borg that Q took pity on the Federation and didn&apos;t allow them to be steamrolled.<br><br>Of course, his motives may not have been entirely altruistic. The Borg had assimilated the El-Aurians, who had themselves been capable at one point of fighting the Q Continuum to a standstill. It&apos;s possible that the Borg would eventually develop an effective means of invading the Continuum, and Q&apos;s mission was to identify a proxy capable of neutralizing the Collective before it got to that point.

  I really think there&apos;s a lot of Q Ex Machina that happened. Unintentionally by the writers, but it&apos;s easy to head canon Q put the Enterprise in front of that Borg cube to both direct the Borg&apos;s attention to the Federation and it gave the Federation valuable time to begin preparing for the Borg. Their adaptability being what it was, Q may have understood that the Federation had the best shot at actually beating the Borg. I dunno, just fun head canon.

  The Dominion was willing to sacrifice one of their ships to destroy a Galaxy class. They would do this a hundred times to destroy a Borg cube. They have the capacity to replace those ships and Jem Hadar clones to pilot them.
