My Dad was an Airman. He flew over 36 bombing missions as a Navigator. In his 80's he opened up about his experiences as I did research and found many photographs he had taken while in the service. He died at 102 years of age, independent until the end.

One thing I wish folks would take note of when editing these videos is to cut the added music volume by about half as it interferes with the important words and serves as more of a distraction than an enhancement, but that aside thank you for posting this important video on my 8th Air Force brothers

What astonished me most was the age of these pilots. Many were only in their early twenties, yet they faced missions where the survival rate was sometimes terrifyingly low. A generation that grew up amidst war.

Moving, I'm 70 and my father & 4 uncles were part of this, Navy & RAF.
All came home.
None of them are here today, I'm glad they never had to see what their sacrifices, all of their young lives were given for.
I look at Britain as it is now, and do wonder was their sacrifice worth it.

What really amazes me is the mechanics Who kept the shot up aircraft in the air. The B17 was a very complex machine.

My father was stationed in Scotland with 603 City of Edinburgh Squadron, He was ground crew & at one stage he witnessed Canadian Crews activity. He said it was a bloody miracle they ever got back in one piece the state of the aircraft they disembarked from,

This performance is really helpful I did not expect it to be this good.

It is incredible and eye opening to learn that the 8th Air Force lost more men than all the Marines did during the South Pacific theater of war. Bomber pilot washout at 40% was pretty high! What a horror to be an airman inside a bomber during these runs.

Please be sure to remember ALL our servicemen and women who died in service to the USA over the years on 5/26/25'...Thank you...Very well done documentary...I believe that the 8th. Air Force came to full strength around mid 44'...I would think the the British Airmen were interviewed about 50 years ago...
