  I actually got a job because of the way I debugged a demo live in my interview. I was still at school and this was for a summer placement. I thought I&apos;d take the laptop along and show what sort of things I had already made for school. That morning I was brave and made some changes to the demo, got them in but clearly in my overconfidence didn&apos;t run it before going to the interview. When it failed to run properly (I think it crashed when I tried deleting something from the database if I remember correctly) my interviewer just sat in silence and watched me fixing it as I tried to explain where I thought the problem might be. In the end got the bug fixed there and carried on with the demo. At the end of the interview the guy said he liked my process I went through when debugging and he was going to recommend hiring me. It&apos;s still the only time I ever had any direct feedback in an interview.

  When making a rhythm game, especially in Godot, don&apos;t forget to add the &quot;Time Since Last Mix&quot; to the Playback Time while also subtracting the &quot;Output Latency&quot;.<br>Working with different audio devices and audio in general is pretty tricky, and because of that, the audio output can slightly offset the playback position, which would be a problem if timing is most important.<br>I recommend looking at Godot&apos;s &quot;Sync the gameplay with audio and music&quot; article it goes pretty in-depth on what I mean.

  I think I misunderstood the title of the video (as of writing, it&apos;s &quot;How To Make Your Own Game Mechanics&quot;)<br>I was expecting the video to be about the process of coming up with ideas for unique game mechanics that will actually be fun/possible to implement.<br>There are definitely a lot of game mechanic ideas that haven&apos;t been done or aren&apos;t common, but for many of them, there&apos;s a good reason. Off the top of my head, using the same buttons for multiple simultaneous actions is unique, but often it just feels finicky or janky (eg. controlling movement of two things at the same time, desyncs make it hard to work with unless you&apos;re doing it in a grid-based puzzle game where that&apos;s the point).
