Fun fact: a lot of cases in Brazil goes unreported or are reported as some generic cause. For example I know of a case an anaconda ate a baby, because I knew the mother, but in the official report it goes only as missing child.

I remember once watching a video that was named “When dangerous animal attack.” Someone in the comment said “The Title should be: When stupid human go way too close to deadly wild animal.”

Never apologize for yapping. Your commentary and insight as a biologist is what we're here for. Also, crazy that the big cat is the LEAST scary thing in that jungle. The Amazon is nuts.

In Brazil the is an expression commonly used "amigo da onça" (literally friend of the jaguar), it refers to someone who pretends to be your friend but actually causes you problems, embarrasses you, sabotages you, or takes pleasure in putting you in difficult situations. It comes from the fact that if a jaguar comes your way, only a true friend would stand with you. A false friend would leave you behind to escape. So that person would be actually a true friend of the jaguar.

8:36 Casual covered the story in a different video, but not only did the kid not thank Sergeant Hollenbach, he went on to embezzle money from pension funds, being arrested in 2016

A fair chunk of Amazonian indigenous peoples remain uncontacted to this day, meaning they're especially vulnerable to disease and also predation from outsiders. One of the most famous cases is that of the Man of the Hole, a man whose entire tribe was killed by loggers or ranchers in the 90s and who spent the rest of his life alone before dying in 2022.

18:44 We hear some tales of anacondas eating children here in Brazil from folk.
One story I remember hearing, was about a kid who went missing. The men of the village went out to search for him and found an anaconda with its belly full. They cut it open to find the child inside.
Of course we don't know if these stories are true or not, but they're scary.

Never apologize for yapping! You always add fascinating context and additional insights into the subject matter whenever animals are involved, not to mention the absolute peak that is FERRET CAM! 🤩

As an aside, people who complain about the reacter yapping too much during the video legitimately baffle me. The commentary of the reacter is literally the entire POINT of watching a reaction; if you didn't want someone else talking alongside the video, then why are you watching a reaction instead of just watching the original video by itself?? 🙄

That Jaguar attack report is wildly underreported. That area is massively rural, and people won't really bother notifying IBAMA about a deadly cat attack. Most of those people likely got some medical attention (thus the survival rate). The instakills and dissapearences are absolutely much more numerous.

I'm from Brazil, I spent two weeks on Amazon, one of the best places I visited. Beautiful, looks like another world.
