Koh Samui vs Koh Chang: Which Is Better for Retirement?

  After spending time looking at both islands, I know which one I’d choose for retirement.<br>But I’m wondering if most people here would agree with me… Koh Samui or Koh Chang?

  Ko Samui is already too expensive, almost an overpriced island, I recently paid Bolt from Lipa Noi area, to Pralarn pier..(12 km) price 650,-THB.. I paid the same amount Bolt from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Khanom beach (85 km) and the amount was exactly the same :-( I also noticed that thanks to many tourists, restaurants no longer pay so much attention to the quality of the food :-(

  Thanks for the vid, George. Please bear in mind that there is an airport in Trat which is 1,5hrs away from Koh Chang. 😉

  Sorry , you cannot compaire the islands , because each island has an own flair !!! I know these 2 islands nearly 45 years !

  If I only had a choice of these two it would be koh Chang. I visited koh Samui last year and left after 2 days.

  I love Koh Chang but think its lack of infrastructure might be a concern especially around healthcare. I spent a month there and was visiting with a Thai relative who lives in the UK and has land and a house in White Sands beach so I had the best of both worlds. I also visited Koh Samui for a month last year as looking to retire to Thailand and I was hoping it would be my paradise island but too touristy for me and think it’s gone the same way as Phuket but that’s just my opinion. Mae Nam was nice though. Anyway now looking at Hua Hin. Loving your videos and the way you show the residential areas and their local facilities as I’m not interested in the holiday vlogs 🙂

  Good video. I lived on Samui for a year. Broke up with my Thai girlfriend and left the island because of to many memories. But it still feels like home, I&apos;ll go back because of the reasons you named. If you want nature Samui has beautiful mountains and rivers aswell. Just the sea is not clear, for that you can take the ferry to Koh tao.

  On top: Diving better in Chang, shorter ways in Samui. Important to note: the big differences in West &amp; East of Koh Chang and also West, South &amp; North/East of Samui. <br>Koh Samui wins if you have the cash - If younger, for the travelling, if older for the infrastructure.
