Why "RESIDENT EVIL" Is So HARD To Adapt

  Here&apos;s my take.<br>Resident Evil is a gory biological terrorism corporate conspiracy survival horror. Where the protagonists are competent individuals but put on the back foot because the scenario is not something they&apos;re trained for. This is most prominent with the first game. Or more generally due to the existence of 3 games tackling the event, The Spencer Mansion incident.<br>A paramilitary police unit is sent to investigate the disappearance of their sister team in the woods of the Midwest city, only to be quickly overrun due to undead creatures and have to take shelter in a mysterious mansion nearby.<br><br>The the first Anderson movie was pretty faithful to that theme and premise. But it&apos;s sequels very quickly turned into action blockbusters that just used iconography for marketing.

  The term &quot;adaptation&quot; is key. They&apos;re NOT adapting, they are deconstructing to replace.

  Lemme remind ya’ll that Markiplier, a YOUTUBER, was able to create a faithful indie horror game live action movie adaptation of the Iron Lung, and he did not have any big hollywood budgets backing him up. If mark can do it, then no doubt these big name directors in the film industry can also do it RE. These hollywood directors are not stupid, lets not treat them like they are clueless amateurs having their hearts in the right place, they know how to make a faithful adaptation happen, they just choose NOT to because they want to put their profit greed, egos, biases, selfishness and identity politics first over everything else necessary for a film. Markiplier’s passionate efforts and capabilities of making the Iron Lung puts all these hollywood RE live action directors over the decade, including cregger to shame.

  All the Capcom animated Resident Evils have been pretty fire NGL😅<br><br>The Mila Jovovich movies are basically Alice in Wonderland goes to Raccoon City. I look at them as a parody series rather than actual canon RE stories.

  Resident Evil Outbreak is a fine place to start for introducing new characters at believable entry points.

  Directors and Writers do what they want and not what they should.. Until that stops we will never get a 1 to 1 recreation of the games. Period.

  Resident Evil isn&apos;t hard to adapt because a 20 minute Fan Film proved it. Hollywood just hates Resident Evil.

  It&apos;s not hard to adapt at all it&apos;s lazy writers and producers and directors that want to create something their way and not use the source material.

  It&apos;s not hard to adapt. Hollywood refuses to adapt it properly.<br><br>Constantin films doesn&apos;t care, as long as they keep the i.p rights.<br><br>Capcom doesn&apos;t care, as long as it doesn&apos;t interfere with their games.<br><br>Sony doesn&apos;t care, because any positive press right now is good for them.<br><br>The original Resident Evil is nothing more than a Haunted House story, with Science Fiction elements, and a &quot;who done it&quot; premise to the story. That&apos;s it. It&apos;s not fucking hard.
