  I’ve been saying for years that my father was the most immature person in our house growing up, with an unearned entitlement that he openly declared, he believed that he was more important than the rest of us. Now not one of 5 of us, my mother, my siblings and I, will answer the phone or show up for him at the hospital. You don’t get to give a lifetime of misery and expect care you never gave in return.

  This makes me think of all the church dances I was forced to attend as a teenager, where the girls were told that they should never refuse when a boy asked them to dance. Obviously, this is damaging for girls, grooming them to be submissive and agreeable, but it also hurts the boys. Supposedly the purpose was to reward their courage and bolster their confidence, but it only gave them unrealistic expectations, keeping them from understanding consent, learning how to deal with rejection, or developing important social skills.

  At one place I used to work, there was a wall full of awards with the names and pictures of award holders. The first time I seen it, my new manager (a man) asked me what was wrong as I made a face. <br>Me: Don&apos;t you see it? <br>Him, examing the wall: What?<br>Me: There&apos;s no women on this wall. <br>HIm: <b>surprised</b> I never noticed. <br><b>*</b><br>Sooo, every time I walked my the wall with another employee, I would ask them if they noticed anything about it. Without exception, if I was with a male, he did not and would be shocked to realize that there were no women on that wall. All the women would look and immediately point out that there were no women on that wall. <br><b>**</b><br>To his credit, my manager who was an excellent human, sent out the requirements to earn a place on the wall to everyone and offered training to anyone who wanted it. Many took advantage and soon after, several women had earned their place on the wall.

  So happy to see science finally getting the evidence out there for what is going on. I call this being taught not to be a human and instead being taught to be a man/woman. A segregation without need.

  I wish more men would come to understand how toxic and limiting patriarchy is. By letting go of certain perceived advantages, we gain so much more!

  I always thought that the military only enforced emotional immaturity. &nbsp;My dad showed more affection for his weapons than he did for his wife, children, or pets.

  When I would go out with my husband, &nbsp;2 kids and our male roommate, &nbsp;the two men would take great delight in joking about how I now had 4 children. &nbsp;They thought it was hilarious. I&apos;m divorced now. He has not reached out to the kids in years, &nbsp;nor paid any child support in longer.

  Thanks for this video; very enlightening. I&apos;d say the same immaturity symptoms occur under white supremacy, too. Like patriarchy, white supremacy centers unearned privilege.

  Yeah, as a guy I&apos;ve noticed that grown men my age and older than me act in ways that I grew out of when I was, like, 14, as someone raised pretty outside patriarchal norms.
