Patriarchy says apologizing = weakness. It’s actually strength.

I have a women’s cooking club where we use your videos all the time. It’s a group where we discuss feminism here in South Africa while cooking a meal together. Strangely enough I put forth the idea of repair work as a topic and voila, this video emerged. Thank you for your brilliance and attention to these issues.

This channel doesn't always make me cry, but when it does it manages to change my life, even if it's in a simple way. Thank you.

This is a very healing and much-needed message, especially in today's social and political climate. It shows that being against patriarchy doesn't mean that you're against men.

I'm Romanian. I don't know anything about New Zeland politics, but after a few seconds of the prime minister's speech I began to cry. I would have never realized what kind of impact the apology of an organization would make. I now yearn for when the time will come that my own government might make amends and repair work for the horrible things it did în the past.

Holy crap, this one was a stunner. I grew up in a family where it was unsafe to apologize or admit to a mistake because you'd get beaten over the head with it. I was in my 30's before I learned how true apologies worked. What a great video.

THIS. As a preschool teacher, I am constantly teaching the kids how to resolve conflicts. The boys especially (even at age 3!) are already allergic to apologies and get very defensive. I make sure they know that they were in the wrong (when they're Actually in the wrong, of course), and why. Then I let them sit with it for a few seconds and I say, "What you're feeling right now is shame. People feel shame when they do something wrong and they feel bad about it. It's Good that you're feeling shame. Because if you Weren't, that would mean you really Were trying to hurt your friend, and I know you weren't trying to be mean. You didn't Mean to hurt them." I let them sit with that for a minute, and listen if they want to affirm that they didn't mean to do whatever it was. Then I say, "Do you know how to get rid of that feeling?" They're often Very receptive at this point. And I say, "You admit to them that you were wrong and you apologize. Then you ask them if they're ok, and you listen to them. Shame only goes away when you apologize."

I often say if Kim Jung Un had had a good preschool teacher, he might still have an uncle.

I am afraid the US government is going to have alot of apologizing to do in the future. So many people have been seriously and gravely wronged.😞

Jacinda Adern was a phenomenal leader for her nation. I am not a Kiwi but I remember this speech when she gave it and the powerful waves of healing that in that process bathed the entire nation in unity, sensitivity and courage to face the shadows together to become a STRONGER country for the process. America desperately needs this. DESPERATELY. For the Indigenous people. For the Racism. For the misogyny. For the Epstein victims and all the victims of gun and sexual violence whose stories never get acknowledged and so the cycles never change. And for the current abomination of an administration that is actively trying to destroy this country and government. They are wrong at every level and until they and we can start the repair work we will not flourish, heck, we may not even survive the next decade.

This video is a years worth of couples therapy and a whole lot more. Apologizing is the strength we are looking for. Repair is the answer going forward. You even included Mindful Self-Compassion, the work I do. Incredible as always. Thank you, Amy.
