Alessandro Del Piero was a world class player,(Roberto Baggio's heir),he is the all time Juventus legend and club's all time top scorer,19 years playing for Juventus, back in the late 90s Serie A,Del Piero and Ronaldo the phenomenon were the 2 undisputed best players of the world, back in 1998 he had a horrible injury(severe anterior and posterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee)Del Piero returned 1 year later and he was still great and scored a lot of goals and won many titles but he was never the same player, with that injury it was like he played the rest of his career with 60 % of his full potential,Del Piero won basically everything, world cup, champions league, intercontinental cup, uefa supercup, euro u-21 champion,4 times competition top goalscorer,2 times footballer of the year,3 times Serie A player of the year,8 serie a titles, many coppa italia, italian supercups, the legendary captain (together with his teamates Buffon Nedved Trezeguet Camoranesi)never betrayed Juventus even when in 2006 after winning the title they were thrown in second division with "calciopoli scandal"(which is a dark chapter of italian football and a very long story)with many teams involved,(one month ago they won the world cup with Italy and they rejected offers from other top european teams such as Barcelona Real Madrid Manchester United etc and decided to stay at Juventus with less money and played in second division as world champions).

I'm a Juventus fan. I started following football as a kid during Del Piero's first season. Del Piero played for 19 years with this jersey. For me, football began with him and ended with him. Today, it's still a pleasant pastime, but as a fan, it makes me cry when I think back to those years. There's only one captain!

The most close to Messi as a playstyle. Even closer than Maradona.
