I'm dying at all the Nightcrawler footage. That movie is the perfect match to the for the wack things you can allow to happen. I love it.

In defense of the whole "Why is a game called Michigan when it is set in Chicago Illinois" thing, I heard it was in reference to Lake Michigan, the great lake that Chicago as well as Milwaukee is bordering.<br><br>The Japanese devs may not have known that colloquially the state of Michigan is far more well known than the lake Michigan in the states.

Another fun fact about the fog, the code still (thankfully) exists to draw it in the PAL version. However, due to some unknown bug, fog is 16 times more opaque than it should be. Likely some localizer saw this bug appear one day and carelessly cut the draw call from the game's update loop, despite the fog being plot critical and the whole reason why ZaKa-TV is out on the streets reporting. After restoring the draw call, the bug can be worked around by dividing the fog alpha by 16. However, this makes the transition from invisible to visible less smooth (because originally the range of alpha is 0-0xFF, while with the workaround it's only 0x0-0xF) and vice versa. Nonetheless, it's still much better than not having the fog at all. I'm working on a patch to restore the fog with this workaround right now.

Quick little Japanese lesson.<br><br>"Zaka" can be translated as 'being next to one's seat', but also as 'being by one's side' with proper context. As in, always there beside you. Uncomfortably so, even.<br><br>If we split up the two phoenetics into "Za" and "Ka", we basically get the action of squatting down. Yknow, to get that perfect shot?<br><br>And finally, "Zako" (which is incredibly close in pronunciation) is a term for small-fry fish that get tossed back. Its often used to describe rejects and general 'last place losers' in a demeaning fashion.<br><br>True to form for Japanese developers, there's a lot of fun wordplay going on here with ZaKa TV's name.

Funfact: Michigan: Report From Hell is not the name of the protagnist you play but the princess you save at the end

Sometimes these videos are all that stands between me and <i>eating a big big sandwhich</i> .

From what I understand, the original Japanese played the whole story straight. It was the localisation team that turned it into a shlocky B-movie cheesefest.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmj0WAf2mVM&t=5360">1:29:20</a> That hollow, plasticky rustling/shuffling sound is referred to as "handling noise" — the typically undesired noise picked up by microphones when they are being physically manipulated. Minute details like that really go a long way towards immersing the player. It's always cool to see developers add a flourish and let their craftsmanship shine.

The funny thing about Hard Gay is that he was never gay. He had a wife and kid the whole time. He had a TV show too with antics that ranged from silly to a little... questionable, like humping a kid's head to drive out their dislike of green peppers. He also had a cameo in Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, an official Nintendo game, for some reason.

The ‘very real sounding U.K. magazine Computer and Video Games’ had me dying laughing. I was in an issue of CVG in 2002, playing the team at Soul Calibur 2. I still have the issue. <br>I regularly forget the magazine ever existed 😂

There's a town called "Hell" in Michigan. On reading the title, I thought this was going to be about a game set in Hell, Michigan.
