My brother lived on Shetland in the early 1990s. He decided to go back in 2008 and recruited me to take his belongings from NI to his new home in Bigton, just beside St. Ninian's Point.
He came back home in 2010 due to ill health and I brought him back. Our last walk together on Shetland was the beach at St Ninian's.
The people of Shetland are the kindest and best.
It's described as a 'thin place' because the distance between heaven and earth seems so close. The air is so good.
In 2017 being diagnosed with aggressive cancer and with limited time he chose to return to Shetland one last time.
It's a magical place.
Thanks Liam. 👍

You should send an edited version of your video to the Shetland Council. It might help them to create/fine-tune and promote their hiking trail.🥾

The water isn't necisarily nasty. It's just peaty. My dads favourite.

Great video but the filthy water you mentioned is just brown from the peat. It's not dirty! Some of the best whiskys in the world are made using peat. 🙂

What I enjoy the most in your travels, Liam, is your trust that Nature/Universe will provide what you need, and your realizing it. Need water? Trust it will come. Find water. Need shelter? Trust it will come. Find the most glorious shelter. What a loving teacher you are in trusting and manifesting what is desired. Thank you.

The Scottish midge is one of the few things to deter you from walking in the countryside & hills in Scotland. They’re relentless in the summer months. Another fabulous hike, Liam. 💚

Long distance hiking makes you realize we live on a big old rock that orbits a sun as we move at phenomenal rates through the universe... and how wonderful it is. Anyone can do it and I dare them not to be changed by the experience. At times it can be hard, tough and uncomfortable, but the rewards are worth it. It makes us less ignorant about the world we live in, and it is full of adventure! It makes us truly truly truly appreciate the wildlife that is seen as some lesser intelligence or mere food source for our supermarkets. Long distance hiking humbles us and makes us more human; thanks for your inspiration Liam. Keep having fun on your adventures mate!

Awe I was not expecting someone to do a Shetland video, I live in Shetland, born here. I’m sure the rugged hikes of Shetland is what prepared me so well for the cape wrath trail I completed this past June. I walk a lot of the coastline & on the summit of Ronas hill I camp summer & winter. Watching the weather forecasts religiously is the only way to plan winter camps here & knowing the land off course . Great to see YouTuber’s experience Shetland & the arduous journey to get here.
