Before blaming yourself, make sure the problem isn't that you're surrounded by toxic people.

Those of us who've lived this understand this video fully and more than likely have experienced trying to explain it to someone else who simply doesn't get it and returns a blank stare.

Yes! Weaponise our good quality as a deficiency.

I’m glad you said it wasn’t an issue of her self worth. My therapist was well meaning but I let her know that blaming me for my ignorance of his intent wasn’t helpful.

She knew about covert narcissists, but still operated from a paradigm that took apart the victim instead of helping them move forward.

Defense is the disguise. Yep! I’ve lived through this my entire life and then continued to attract and tolerate it as an adult. They always target the overly conscientious who give them the benefit of the doubt. Thank you for bringing awareness to this.

Everyone assumes that people who are in a relationship try to make it work. It simply goes beyond your fantasy that this is not always the case. Some people have relationships only to sabotage them, because they get energy and joy out of that.

Wow this is powerful stuff. This epistemic injury concept is a real game changer for my understanding.

You're giving language to behavior I've experienced and to injury I'm learning to name. I feel like a child learning to speak about lived experiences. Thank you.

The hook of the crook is that you don't think like THAT. You wouldn't trick them into doing more for you and they KNOW that! Concienscious people project their own consciousness onto people they trust and care for. And exploitive people KNOW that! That's how it WORKS!

This is outstanding! The nuanced case study deeply resonates with me because maps out how my ex-wife chipped away at my self-esteem and sabotaged my ability to trust my mind and my gut instincts over a 27-year marriage. It never once occurred to me that I couldn't trust her.

This is one of the most profound, eye opening presentations on on psychological abuse I've ever come across. This perfectly explains why good people remain with toxic people. It's not only the victim who blames themselves, it's nearly all of society. These dynamics are not well understood or well known by a lot of people. I hope this video goes viral. It needs to.
