  In the Netherlands Folic acid is not put in our bread. But the best bread is one you make yourself.

  As a child in the mid 60&apos;s we used to go swimming on a Saturday morning after 90 mins or so swimming we&apos;d come out the baths absolutely starving call at the bakers (which smelt so blooming adorable of real fresh baked loaves) purchase a yesterdays loaf as it was cheaper split it between us and demolish it in no time we was &nbsp;that hungry its so sad that kids nowadays have never experienced what real bread and butter with a proper jam on tastes like they really dont know what they are missing.

  I have recently returned to the UK after many years abroad and I found the bread to be shockingly bad. I&apos;m talking about the big brands and supermarket product, &nbsp;not local independent bakeries. I have tried a lot of different types and &nbsp;brands over the last three months and there&apos;s seriously something wrong with it. It&apos;s actually nauseating and I ain&apos;t no bread connoisseur.

  Even bread from our local bakers is the same. Stodgy for days. Palm oil and others in it, let alone the now added FA!

  I rang up Warburtons in Newcastle a couple of months back asking if they&apos;d changed anything in the loaves? They said no so I told them that sparrows in the back of my house will not touch it.

  Folic is also in wholemeal, always check the ingrediants.

  I’m a retired baker ,and the amount of change in making bread is unbelievable. There is one particular brand Kingsmill . The worst bread I have ever bought .<br>You can see the reason for the downturn in quality breads in the Big supermarkets. They have closed their bakeries . Then reopen using frozen doughs. Which are only good for one day . <br>I ran a Bakery department in Australia, the stores are open 9am until 9pm &nbsp;I would have a small range white, grain bread come out the oven at 5 pm . Today’s supermarket bakers are baking at midnight and finishing 6-7 am . No smell of a fresh bake coming out of the oven. <br>I can walk past a in-store bakery and can tell you that the bread is a frozen dough bread . <br>I started baking when I was 10 years old helping and old baker . &nbsp;We made bread hand moulded<br>Made from strong white flour 13% Gluten content, salt, yeast shortening and water .thats all we needed. &nbsp;I personally blame foreign ownership.where they can’t make bread without adding lots of unhealthy ingredients,to make the bread last longer.
