  The photo at 12 seconds is my grandmother and grandfather Willie (Billie) Duncan and William Duncan. That man was the greatest man I knew and a WW2 army air Corp along with both being preachers and giving back to their community I was raised with them and learned to live off the land from them. I miss them so much but I'll see them again soon. But to mention looking through the video I see so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great grandparents. And I'll tell y'all this much those generics for the ears are still front and center in this family lol.

  The irony is that they really are American royalty in that their genetics is traced back to pre-revolutionary war America! But treated as worse than second class.

  I have always wondered where my Asian eyes, European nose and dark skin came from, and last year I found out that I was Melungeon on my father's side. His family came from the mountains of Tennessee. Thank you for this video. I've been looking for a good breakdown and now I can point people to this video.

  I suspect the term Melungeon has to do with the French word for mixture, "mélange".

  My husband is Melungeon from East Tennessee, his grandma had one of the traditional Melungeon names. He's strawberry blond/blue eyes but tans really dark. When we did Ancestry, he came back with European and some African. He has the bump on the back of his head too. His family seems to have been in the US since the 1600s.

  I&apos;m Melungeon as well. &nbsp;Begley is my surname with direct blood-tie lineage of the Sizemore family. &nbsp;I&apos;m in the hills of Eastern Kentucky, and our family homeplace is located in &quot;Hell For Certain&quot; in Leslie County. &nbsp;When people ask me my genetic makeup, I simply inform them that I am a Heinz 57 variant. &nbsp;But realistically, on my paternal side, I am a hodge-podge of Indigenous American, African (north and south) Mediterranean, Portuguese, Congolese and Moroccan (this is according to my 23-And-Me results). &nbsp;I&apos;m proud of my heritage and happy to be able to educate folks about the rich and diverse cultural makings of my people. &nbsp;As you&apos;re well aware, much of our American history has been whitewashed for obvious reasons. &nbsp;<br><br>Thanks for the coverage, @Evo Inception.
