I think my favourite quote from Heidi in this was when talking about comparing yourself to others in races, "there are so many people out here... it's none of your business(why they might be going faster) and it really doesn't matter because you're here for yourself"

She has such a great personality. Her positivity, happiness, and laughter are so infectious, which made such a great conversation. I also enjoyed listening to someone who is not elite yet still loves running. It gave me so much perspective on my running life. Thanks

Great podcast. From when I started listening to you in February I’ve changed my training to focus purely on running a low heart rate and building weekly volume. In that time I’ve gone from 1:52 half marathon to 1:36 (age 42) AND I’m not getting injured. Love listening to these on my runs - thank you 🙏

Amazing, Floris! I’m a fellow Heidi as well, and just ran my first 50k - love the skill of staying conservative with pace, the mental game of the problem solving with nutrition and hydration, and encouragement/mantra! I love CD’s mantra, “robot, robot, robot”. This was a great listen.

Thank you Floris and Heidi for this conversation! The beauty of bringing diverse perspectives is that as we hear their stories which are rooted in their specific journey, pace, aspiration, health and fitness, race, ethnicity, gender, etc,, we find universal truths that we can all relate to and learn from so much appreciated! I really enjoyed hearing from Heidi how the Zone 2 running, mindful and slower runs open up her creative processes through observation and awareness of the environment and the world around us, i.e. the cactus, the rocks, the runners talking gossip, the cats in the window, and it becomes a journey to, through, and beyond self where our lives as a whole become a creative act for some higher purpose. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Seriously loved this episode! Heidi's story is so relatable... I'm all about that 'running as self-discovery' thing – who knew pounding the pavement could be so deep? 😂 And those mantras? Gonna be repeating 'I can and I will' on my next run, for sure. Plus, her point about finding your running community is spot on! It's so much better when you've got people cheering you on. That's a lesson I needed to hear. Thanks for sharing Floris!

Great interview because Heidi's story is relatable. Thank you, Floris. I am a 100% solo runner and didn't enjoy the group runs however, after listening to Heidi's story I like to give another chance to the group run/run club.

I wish you and your loved ones our very best for the holidays and the coming year. One more thing, I hope our paths will cross in the year 2025 to meet you in person.

Brilliant "down-to-earth" interview. Such a beautiful cheerful human being. I have done ten (10) Ultra Marathons in South Africa (The Comrades Ultra Race) The 89 km race consists of very mountainous terrain. I have also done innumerable marathons (too many to count) but THIS interview had me glued to my phone. It was so refreshing!! Thank you to you both!!!!
