It's interesting that the history of German mathematics was not mentioned. Germany produced some of the most famous mathematicians of all time like Gauss, Riemann and Hilbert.

To not even mention Romania, the initiator of the IMO in 1959, with Ciprian Manolescu, the only participant with three consecutive perfect gold medals, is wild.

I grew up in Slovenia (honorable mention) and received my university math education there - benefiting from strong Slovene mathematical tradition. I became a CS professor in USA. These days I research Kolmogorov-Arnold neural networks and their applications to computational mechanics, among other things. I use math every day to solve engineering problems. I have fond memories of my IMO years. I loved this video.

To the best of my knowledge, Hugo Duminil-Copin was born and educated the French way (following the most common Fields Medal path - ENS - in his home country). He then joined Smirnov in Geneva for his thesis, and the rest is history. Thanks for all of these interesting videos.
