  Well, at almost 42 I&apos;ve reached an old man milestone. All of these were anime that I grew up watching and now they&apos;re retro.

  Ok, I have a little story about Wicked City if anyone cares: <br><br>When I was a kid, me and my dad would regularly rent Japanese animated films from a VHS rental store. It was a great time, although admittedly, I saw a few flicks that maybe I was too young for (like Akira), because I was maybe 8 at the time. One week, my dad rented Wicked City and we started watching it. In the very beginning of the film, almost immediately there was a sex scene and my dad covered my eyes and told me to go to my room. Before leaving, I sneakily looked back again at the TV and saw the woman growing creepy spider limbs and trying to suffocate the guy in bed. My dad saw me still watching the film and yelled at me again. &nbsp;I ran into my room and saw nothing after.<br><br>Over the years, that memory stuck with me and I always wondered what the movie was. I started to look for it, but didn&apos;t have any frame of reference for what it was called or how obscure it could be. All I had to go on was that short memory of the scene.<br><br>Years went by and I was living my life as normal, but every once in a while that memory nagged me. What was that creepy movie? I now had enough understanding of anime&apos;s visual periods that I could confidently place the movie to late 80&apos;s or early 90s, but my search never led anywhere.<br><br>Eventually, about 20 years later, I was home doing a Google image search of old anime films for a random art project. Images were whizzing by as I was looking for cool references, but then...suddenly, I saw something <i>really familiar.</i> It was just a thumbnail sized image for an old film, but there was something about that I recognized. Maybe it was the aesthetic, lighting, something. Whatever it was, it immediately grabbed me. As I read the synopsis, I was intrigued. Could <i>this</i> be that old movie I&apos;ve been wanting to see all these years?<br><br>I searched for a torrent link and downloaded the movie asap. As I started watching it, I was mesmerized. All of it was coming back to me, all at once; the mood, the ambience, the art style... and then... it happened. The scene that had existed only in my memory for 20 years started playing in front of my eyes. I felt like I was hallucinating, the sense of euphoria was insane. I couldn&apos;t fathom how clearly I had remembered every single detail of the scene, despite the fact that I had been 8 years old. It looked exactly like I remembered.<br><br>There&apos;s no real way to explain how good it feels to finally see a movie that you&apos;ve been waiting to see in full for 20 years. I could feel like it was 1998 again and I was sitting there with my dad. Just awesome.

  Perfect Blue is a movie that makes you forget you are watching animation. It truly gets better with each viewing. Easily top 10 best film I&apos;ve ever seen, anime or not.

  Night of the Galactic Railroad is another obscure and surrealistic animation that deserved a mention. &nbsp;If you like Angel&apos;s Egg, you will like Night of the Galactic Railroad.

  Vampire D sure in the 80&apos;s wasnt the best animation but they completely made it up with the 2000 release. Still to this day some of the best animation ever made

  Gotta add &apos;Dagger of Kamui&apos; to this list. Everything else is definitely well selected. &nbsp;Also Ninja Scroll, love the animation and dark shinobi fight scenes.
