I bought a condo at Ellington and Don Valley in 1974.I was told at the time a rapid transit line along Ellington was being planned.

The loss of the subway in '94 was a huge mistake. Everyone knew it then. The government at the time ALSO sold the massive 407 to a private company for basically a keg of beer.

I think the REM in Montreal (the largest rapid transit project in Canadian history) was proposed, planned, designed, and constructed entirely within the time it’s taken to build this line.

Happy to say Eglinton line 5 is now open and somehow by a miracle is really fast, clean, and has been getting great reception in the city. I really cant believe it myself.

It’s wild that tunneling wrapped up back in 2016 but they’re still dealing with track and software issues now.

I worked in the construction of the Eglinton line in 2018, since then I got married, changed homes three times and have two kids and still not open .. hopefully my grandkids will enjoy the line

That is the one notable thing about the Elizabeth line - they absolutely went ham when they decided whwre to terminate. Reading to Shenfield is an absolute beast of a length.
