TTCriders is a fantastic organization making transit better in Toronto. Support or consider volunteering with them if you want to help improve the streetcars.

Streetcar summit: https://www.ttcriders.ca/save_our_streetcars_summit

Give transit the green light: https://www.ttcriders.ca/greenlight

Transit only lanes: https://www.ttcriders.ca/lanes

Run? I often out-walk streetcars.

The switches part killed me. I expected everything, but not allowing two trams to pass each other at a switch is insane.

It's tragic how much torontonians think that streetcars (trams) are useless and slow when in other countries they are so good.

being a true torontonian is waiting 30 mins for a streetcar during rush hour and seeing PEOPLE WALKING AND GETTING TO YOUR DESTINATION BEFORE YOU DO (real story btw happened to me multiple times)

I appreciate that you directly showed an example of consumer/citizen advocacy and the direct result of it. Too many people, on whatever topic, just say to do it but never show that it can work.

When I lived downtown, I could literally (not figuratively) walk or bike faster than the street cars, so I never bothered taking the TTC.

Hope Toronto will improve their trams in the near future. That might not be as "sexy" politically speaking as proposing entire new lines of rapid transit, but it sure would be very beneficial and would make the trams better and more useful

As a tram driver from Belgium I'm absolutely baffled by some of the practices they seem to do over there. Compared to the Netherladnds we are also behind on certain things in my city and yet we are lightyears ahead of Toronto it looks like. Having to STOP to check for the alignment of a switch is diabolical. We have to visually check all our switches too but it can be perfectly done while driving at the lowered speed for passing over them anyway. But it's the passenger stops INTO an active driving lane that really get me. The fact that those exist in this day and age is unreal, that's just asking for accidents. Over here they stepped away from those designs during the 60's and 70's.

Here on St. Clair West, they built a dedicated streetcar line. Construction was a big headache, but now that it's finished we're getting the benefits from it, especially at the far west end.

City streets look so beautiful with no cars and people walking around everywhere. It's what downtowns were meant to be.
