  I feel like there&apos;s a case to be made Akhenaten might have been practicing some very early form of quarantine. This is all conjecture, so don&apos;t take it too seriously, lol. He essentially severs connections with Egyptian vassal states abroad. He moves the capital to the middle of nowhere, &apos;somewhere untainted&apos;. He changes the whole religious practice, as if to try and identify a remedy. In artwork, he mourns his children dying at young ages. Like they said in the episode, this is the period of Egypt where we find the most disease present in human remains. <br><br>It&apos;s all very fascinating, that&apos;s for sure! Truly identifying the order in which things went wrong, whether Akhenaten maybe was responding to a plague. Maybe the rejection of his deity was the response to a plague. I can only hope sooner rather than later we find some magic buried out in that old desert. ;) <br><br>I&apos;m loving this series. Can&apos;t tell you how often I watch some form of historic content, and the people discussing it seem so disappointingly incurious and incapable of giving informed answered to detailed questions. That&apos;s not a problem for you guys whatsoever, and you really open up the Academics you have on the show.

  I’m a bit disappointed that despite him being the heretic king, not once was the power grab addressed. When he became the pharaoh it was evident the Priests held too much power and to break the system was to retake the power and the plentiful resources. <br>Also, a little bit put off by the excessive hate from the host here. You can completely despise him without it taking over the conversation or cutting off points <br><br>Despite this critique, amazing discussion and i enjoyed it immensely

  I believe Bob Briar believed that the priesthood of Amen had grown too powerful and challenged Akenaten&apos;s power and that was the reason for the persecution of Amen.
