I'm surprised D&D didn't go full meta and make a Dungeon Dragon.

Where moon dragons mimic the phase cycle of the moon, the life cycle of a sun dragon mimics that of a star. Last stage being the white dwarf that's left behind when the sun sheds its outer layers.

The way I run time dragons, there is only one time dragon. If you ever suffer the misfortune of seeing more than one at a time its just that same one dragon from different point in his life, kinda like when The Doctor meets one of his past forms.

Rust monster origin? I have to believe that most dragons would feel that the rust dragon is some kind of abomination.

I had my players fight a time dragon in my last campaign. During the second phase of the fight, the dragon (unintentionally) shunted everyone to a different point in time and fought them across time. Some got sent back in time, some got sent into the far future. One guy got unlucky and got thrown outside of time into a pocket dimension where an evil god was contained in stasis. By far my favorite boss fight I've ever ran.

I love the Time Dragons! Once I learned about them it helped flesh out the “why” behind my campaign. One of my characters is a Draconic monk who was trained in what he’ll later discover was the Astral Plane. This dragon saw the campaign’s setting destroyed by the BBEG, and, like someone who doesn’t want a show they enjoy cancelled, he took an acolyte, forged a prophecy, and set the PC’s actions in motion to save it.

 🥳🫂👍🏿

1:09 Always found it interesting that the hellfire wyrm breaths a kind of fire that is so hot and unholy that it isn’t normal fire and therefore isn’t subject to standard fire resistances
