  As soon as.i clapped eyes on those rear wheel arches I thought that's Nick Mann's minor. I still have that street machine mag from 84, a magazine that made a huge impression on me. Every month I'd scoure the shops in Dublin hoping to find the latest copy. Mr six ,a red mk1 escort with a 30 Essex was another that I loved at the time.  Great to see its still about and getting better all the time.

  I remember at a kid living in Guernsey seeing a Morris Minor arriving off the car ferry from England with a roof rack and 4 massive slick tyres roped down. Straight off the ferry and into the town traffic ... Next day was the Guernsey hillclimb and there it was again, only without roof rack but sitting on slicks. And boy, was it rapid up the hill! Great memories......

  I drove a Morris Minor 1000 to southern Italy  and back with my girlfriend in the summer of 1971. We took 6 weeks over it and were camping. I was in to scuba diving at the time and the kit and tank was on the back seat.

  Around about 1972, I had my first car, a Triumph 1300, front wheel drive, stromberg carb, go faster stripes, I drove it like I stole it, thinking I was the dogs Gonads, one night at the Hospoital traffic lights, a morris minor pulled up next to me at the lights, I saw it had wide steel wheels on it, and it looked a bit lower than normal, so I thought I'll leave you standing mate! as the lights changed, the morris took off like a rocket!!! left me in it's exhaust fumes!!! I found out later on that the chap driving it worked for BRA (British Racing Automobiles) I think based in Dunstable!!!! Happy days though, no speed cameras, or road humps.This V8 Turbo job reminded me of the Traffic lights!!!!!!

  It would be fantastic as a sleeper though. Looking like a normal Morris Minor…. but performing like a Ferrari I would love to see the reaction on peoples faces!

  Yeah Nick Mann did indeed have a length of railway track bolted to the rear to help traction....the piece of track had "Traction by GWR" inscribed on it.  It was a magnificent piece of engineering back in the day when the rwat of us had V8 pops that were a ba' hair away from being death traps.

  The Minor two door is a great looking car, and this modified version looks even better!<br>What an amazing build, separate chassis, rover and jaguar running gear, nice interior and a heater - just fantastic!<br>I also vaguely remember the Nick Mann (not Mason) car - and had always assumed this was the same car.

  Back in the early 1970&apos;s I work with a man who had a Minor. He replaced the engine with a Wolsey 1800 unit and GB. He used Nitrous as a fuel additive. For the period this was incredibly fast and sometimes frightening.
