  My late mother, who was English and studying French in the South of France aged 19, was asked to be Grace Kelly&apos;&apos;s stand in for the film. It meant she wore the clothes and undertook various stand in roles both whilst the stars were in the South of France and after they returned to America when filming continued. My mother can also be seen walking along the beach whilst Cary Grant is swimming, she has blonde hair and is wearing a blue bathing costume. There is also a close up of her as she walks past Grace Kelly who is sitting on the beach in her bathing suit as Cary Grant comes up to sit nearby. <br>Years later my mother met Grace Kelly again when she came to the Chichester Theatre in England to give a poetry reading. My mother was invited to meet with her in her dressing room after the performance. My mother &nbsp;had very fond memories of the whole experience.

  Another piece of trivia: &nbsp;Jessie Royce Landis played Jessie Stevens, Frances&apos; mother. &nbsp;She also played Roger Thornhill&apos;s mother in North By Northwest 4 years later. &nbsp;Yet, Jessie was only 8 years older than Cary Grant.

  Interesting also, that the cat metaphore is taken literally several times: When Cary Grant is sitting in the bus, next to a lady and a cage with a canary bird. His strange look is that of a cat, seduced by a prey impossible to catch. Then the scene in Bertani‘s kitchen, when one of the Cook offers Grant a bowl of milk. <br>Hitchcock is like a composer weaving his motifs throughout the movie.

  According to Prince Albert of Monaco, &nbsp;the family categorically denies that the road on which Kelly was driving was the same road as the famous chase scene in this film. In fact, it was not even the same road, let alone the same spot.

  The part where Grant walks Kelly to her room and she grabs him for a kiss while the saxophone is playing, is the sexiest movie scene I have ever watched.

  One of all time favourite films. The other film is one of my feel good film is anotherCary Grant movie. This time opposite Audrey Hepburn in Charade.

  Many of the shots in the climactic rooftop chase, dangerous as they look, are an artful blend of the rooftop set above, the villa set below, and the matte paintings Hitchcock loved using.
