Gloria Swanson absolutely should have won Best Actress for Sunset Boulevard. Her performance as Norma Desmond was unforgettable, haunting, and completely mesmerizing. The final scene, when she walks down the stairs, is one of the most chilling and hair-raising moments I’ve ever experienced in film history.

Every time I watch it I think the same thing: this character is considered old?? Swanson's skin was gorgeous. Such a great film.

Nicholas Ray used the same deserted Norma Desmond mansion for a night location scene for 'Rebel Without a Cause'. There's a beautifully eerily prescient photograph taken of Jimmy Dean with Natalie Wood stood in the empty drained swimming pool looking up at Sal Mineo knelt on the diving board with a candlabra in his hand.

No one even remembers Judy Holliday nor Born Yesterday unless you are a true film buff. Everyone remembers Sunset Boulevard.
