  One would think you could use a circuit tracer to do the same thing? Do you think it would actually work?

  What’s happening is, when you use the neutral it’s run next to the hot and will saturate other wires with the radio signal, it’s great for finding breakers but if you’re looking for a break or short in a wire it’s best to use an isolated ground far away from the wire you’re tracing, I’ll use an extension cord ground as far as possible, the problem with the communication toners is you can’t use them on live wires.

  A couple years ago I replaced a couple lights with two LED lights from Costco and I wired in a new light and switch in the bedroom. Everything was working fine. I just added a plug on the same circuit with a usb charger. no issues. On this  circuit is a hall light a bathroom light a fan and a GFI all in the bathroom except the hall light. Then the two kitchen lights the one plug and the bedroom light AND a over head microwave. This is an older mobile home and there has been electrical work done over the years before I purchased it. But everything was working fine other than a periodic dimming of one of the other lights in the bathroom on a different circuit when the washer comes on it's periodic though. A week ago I decided to do some renovations and wanted to move the fan switch so I could put a proper trim around a new door I want to put in the bathroom and needed to move the fan switch back from the door and I rewired it to a new switch and box following all the original wiring  pattern that existed. When I tried the fan switch to check it it sparked and That whole circuit went off. All the lights on this circuit dont work now. I went to the plug I had installed a while ago because it is the only one I can plug my tester into and came up showing hot/grnd/rev. Using the same Klein tester you have VDV500 063 AND VDV500 123, i traced every wire on this circuit and I removed a bunch of wiring that was not being used and had been disconnected and just buried in the wall and ceiling I disconnect every switch on the circuit so that power only runs now to the two kitchen lights and the bedroom light and the one plug and the overhead microwave. the fan the light the GFI are all disconnected.  The lines show power shows on the black and the white at the two kitchen switches all the way to the bedroom but the lights don't work AND the breaker does not trip. I have all the light boxes apart to expose the wiring for testing everything looks fine there are no three wires only two wire where they have used the white to power the two switches in the kitchen. I can't figure this out why it all worked fine now nothing and the power still runs through but doesn't trip the breaker. I have explained this the best I can

  I'm looking to get a tracer and toner for fire alarm including a short. I've been checking the 61-948 as can be used for the electrical side if I try to use it for inground fault. I would like to input. Thank you.

  Why are tracers like this ONLY household OR automotive (vdiag200pro or powerpro ect3000).<br>Seems to me if power isnt running thrunit then ac/dc isnt the reason. And a wire is a wire. Could there NOT be crossover for these tools?

  Hey brother so I have the ideal sure trace plus circuit tracer seems pretty similar to your Klein, my question is the same way your teaching how to use yours can I do the same with mines ? I still haven’t used it yet because I can’t find a good video to show me how to trace behind walls so I can fix a few receptacles in my house
