Great video. The only problem with this video is that the humidistat is mounted on the humidifier and not either in the house or in the return line back to the furnace. Those two locations will be more accurate measuring humidity than it being placed in a basement or an attic.

I own moisture sensitive instruments so I invested in a good humidifier and use a Honeywell humidistat with an outdoor temp sensor to regulate indoor humidity. I set the humidistat to 50% for the instrument’s sake with a relative percentage offset to avoid moisture on the interior of the windows. Humid air is definitely more comfortable if the level is appropriate. <br>Good info that many here that many may not know.

Thank you Ray!! I will perform these steps this weekend just before winter starts here in Ontario Canada.<br>Correct me if I'm wrong.. In the spring\summer when we turn off the heating (Furnace) we can also turn off the humidifier, right?

Ray I in Ohio I hear a click at times my humidstat is mounted on my cold air return.My problem is no water does that water valve ever get clogged.

One HVAC company put the AprilAire humidifier on the OUTPUT side of the furnace, but the next HVAC service man moved it to the INTAKE side of the furnace saying that was better ??? Which one is correct ??

PA resident here, bought a home that had a humidifier that doesn’t work. I noticed it was on the rerun duct, it has a built-in fan. I’m looking to replace it. Is it normal for it to be on the return duct with out any connection to the other side of the duct work?

Nebraska here. Two year old Lennox furnace with new totaline humidifier. After first year the humidifier stopped working, unless dial was set to lowest setting, mine has a solenoid next to the unit, water comes through, no blockage but cant be controlled from the dial setting. Any idea if solenoid could be the problem.
