Any fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones will have a clear advantage at grasping the main concepts of the social hierarchy of the Parthian Empire, because they are surprisingly similar:

- A king elected from a single Royal ruling family
- 7 Great Houses with small private armies loyal only to them
- A vast number of lesser nobility (minor houses and knights) serving each Great House
- And of course, neverending internal backstabbing and political maneuvering

Let me know if I left anything out :)

Sounds to me like the Parthian system is pretty close to what the vast majority of Europe would eventually adopt in their feudal systems. At least in theory.

 seems very feudal in nature!
interesting how heavy cavalry based societies had similar structures.

I appreciate you highlighting both the advantages and disadvantages of a system. Often I feel like underrepresented topics tend to be overhyped by the people talking about them and they forget to take a measured and well rounded approach to make it feel real and fair and not just idealized.

So happy to see more Persian history content. I'd love to see some videos from other eras of Persia, like the the Achaemenid or the Safavid eras.

Parthia was a feudal confederation. Historians have mislabeled this dynasty. A reflective, contented mind is the best possession. - Zarathustra

Congratulations for collaborating with HistoryMarche and for this amazing video! I just watched the battle of Carrhae video on HM, it was really well done! This one about the Parthians on your channel is equally fascinating, well-narrated and documented, not to mention its maps and graphics design! I sincerely wish you the best. Keep up the good work and I have no doubt you will reach greatness again!
