  Wasn't the first time Johnny Sack cried in public.. Uncle June was singing at the restaurant and Johnny was crying then... Phil wasn't around to see it... Phil made the crying bigger than it was and people got behind him on it cuz he did 20 years in the can.. Phil wanted to cry but he compromised...

  All the RL mafia were already breaking the rules. Any of the guys who survive getting out have plenty of stories about how people used to backstab each other and break "sacred rules" constantly.  The higher up you were, the more rules you could get away with breaking.
