The saddest part of the movie is when you realize why Forrest ran for 3 years. He was mentally suffering. Losing bubba, his mom, not having Dan around all the time anymore, Jenny leaving again. He was always to to run when he faces trouble or problems. This time, his troubles were in his heart, and he couldn't run from it, no matter how far or how long he ran 😢

A lot of abused children grow up to become adults with a lot of problems. From addiction snd alcoholism to abusive relationships and legal trouble. Sadly, it's far too common.

In the book, Jenny contracted Hepatitis C from the shared needle use. For the movie, they just let the viewer imagine their own nightmare.
