Please invite this professor to return for further discussion. I learned so much, and her delivery is very relatable and down-to-earth.

I am 71 years old with long covid. I struggled for a long time with exercise intolerance. I use a watch to monitor my heart rate. If I keep my heart rate down, I can walk over 10000 steps a day. The steps are small and I walk very slowly, but I feel that it is keeping me sane, and improving the overall quality of life.

I'm 68, retired 8 years and very active. I cover at least 10 kilometres everyday - walking, running, gardening, housework, shopping etc. For the last year or more I've also tried to tackle inflammation through diet. Limiting carbs, doing intermittent fasting, eating about 50 different plants a week, eating the rainbow and making sure i get plenty of fermented food - kefir, kimchi, kraut etc. I'm enormously grateful i have the health to do the activity I do, but nothing is helping my eczema and my finger joints remain so swollen i can no longer put my engagement ring on or take my wedding ring off. It sounds magic to be able to manage inflammation but it really isn't that easy

What a wonderfully inspiring lady. I have suffered terrible inflammation all my life and have become sedentary after retirement. Now I am going to do the simple things suggested, walk up and down stairs 10 times a day. Increase my walking to 10000 steps, use resistance bands and fast 1 day a week. Simple

Prof. Janet Lord, thank you so much for this insight into why some of us are constantly fighting inflammation as we age. I am 67 years old, and still running my own business and do about 6000 steps a day during lunch time at a local park. Great take away for me from this interview is to understand that the human body is designed to move and not be sedentary. Every bit of mobility will make a positive impact to my well being. Thank you again, Prof. Janet Lord 🙏
