  I was never a technician but I did work at a dealership doing add-ons.  It was all flat rate.  I got so insanely robotic and efficient at my job, I was making good money pre-covid.  What was management's response to me being so productive?  "We're paying him too many hours for these jobs."  As I was walking out the door, they begged me to negotiate with them.  I asked for a healthy raise and upper management declined.  Their reason was, "We just don't make a lot of money on these add-ons."  As I was walking out the door, the service manager was pleading with me to give a two weeks notice as there was three truck loads of new cars that had just shown up.  I politely told him, "The dealership doesn't make a lot of money on these add-ons.  It's not a big deal."

  😮 this is all part of the global shift from ownership to renting in every aspect of life…. No repairs or replacement just back to the dealership for a new car.It’s a good thing that the average person is pitted against one another so they don’t bother looking up at the real enemy

  I went to a local shop to get my car fixed and I was given priority because in his words "I can replace your transmission faster than I can diagnose the other cars here". Bless cars from the early 2010's
