Never mind typing , teach the young children to write with a pen and pencil, that way they will automatically start to learn basic spelling and punctuation which will give them a baseline to work from later.

I work in a middle school. He is speaking facts. It’s beyond sad, it’s terrifying. We need to go back to old school. Get rid of the friggin chromebooks, get out pen and paper and make the kids do the work using their own brains. Wow, what a concept.

Another issue is the bad kids prevent the good ones from learning, too. Teachers spend so much time trying to keep bad kids in line, while everyone else suffers. It’s a lose-lose situation unless you’re in a magnet or private school.
