Just to let you know, the dog that appears in the Dog Ending is called Mira.

She is one of several Silent Hill Mascots and is implied to be related to the dog that Eddie hurt, likely his mother or sister - hence, she growls at Eddie's appearance in the credits.

Something fascinating about the way Angela and James interact is that she sees the danger that James is capable of better than he does, but also she sees it BETTER THAN WE DO. James comes across as quiet, soft spoken, harmless even. But then again, this is how he sees himself. This is how dangerous people see themselves, so of course that's how we see him.
We see multiple attempts to touch Angela in the boss scene but HE sees it as an attempt to comfort. What was he REALLY doing? Yanking on her? Trying to drag her? We don't know.

As a survivor of r*** and SA i have always found Angela's character a powerful and empathetic representation of the struggles a lot of us (survivors) go through.
The self blame, the paranoia, the danger to self and inability to trust in affection or care. I've often talked about how surviving these traumas is like a light switch you can never turn off.
I think this is essentially Angela's hell - "for me it's always like this". Living on after surviving abuse often feels like waking up to a world that's constantly on fire, and sometimes we just have to walk out into the flames.
I feel like you really understood that. Thank you for such a sensitive, honest and accurate analysis of a very important character who's dear to my heart <3

It really is disgusting that youtube silences victims from speaking about their own experiences.

Angela is one character i truly wish we'd been able to save. Just holy hell she did not deserve what she went through.

Edit: I am aware that the point is you can't help her. Her trauma has broke her but it doesn't stop me wishing as the player that we could change her fate. Make it so she can leave town with a clean slate. But then obviously her story wouldn't cut as deep as it does. (And for context i am saying this from the perspective of a survivor. Which i'm only mentioning because judging from my replies i think people have taken what i said the complete wrong way. I don't want to save her to be a 'white knight, video game hero' i wish we could save her because i can empathise and even relate to that mind frame. It has nothing to with wanting to be a macho masculine hero saving the damsel because James is a literal murderer. It has everything to do with the writing of her character being so well done that i can empathise with het character to a degree i wish we could change her fate. And me wishing i the player could do something about it does not mean i missed the point of her character. I can accept that we can't help her while still wishing we could. It really isn't as deep or complicated as some of the replies are making it. And once again, i AM an abuse survivor, so me empathising with and wishing i could help Angela comes from a relatable place and that doesn't mean i missed the point of her character/story.)

The details the creators thought of with Angela were brilliant. Making her voice actress and design be older (trauma/abuse scientifically make you age faster), her clothes in contrast to Maria (much more covered up), how she talks and constantly apologizes. The creators were so next level with everything they thought of.

one thing I also like about Angela's arc is how every interaction with her parallels James's story but is "ahead" of him.

The cemetery is her rosewater park,

room 106 in blue creek apartment is her room 312, where she comes to terms with what she did

abstract daddy is her fighting her final boss

and finally the staircase scene is her in water ending.

It's a bit interesting how Angela is supposed to be a teen or younger person but I always saw and heard her as a 30-40 year old woman. I don't know if it was intentional from the devs to cast a voice actor who sounded more mature/experienced but confused, and have her model look very mature being someone who had to grow up fast emotionally from trauma, or if that was just an accident, but either way it works so well. She sounds and looks so confused and at the same time so old and weary.

Pyramid head isn’t a representation of the Id - he’s a manifestation of guilt - the executioner. He exists to expose James to his own evil - his repressed memories of shame and guilt.
The reason masahiro hates him is because he has been constantly used out of context in later franchise instalments.

You're stuck in a small room with Abstract Daddy, unable to move much because Angela was. Stuck in a room with a monster unable to leave until the horror was done. Its so damn disturbing.

I was always mad that Angela doesn't get any sort of routes or perhaps a bonus scenario like Maria where she gets to survive/overcome Silent Hill's attempts at getting to her. I had that problem because unlike James and Eddie, Angela was never guilty; she defended herself, unlike James and Eddie who acted out of rage and/or grief. It took me YEARS being able to explain to myself that the power of Silent Hill does not make a distinction; it treats you the way you treat yourself, despite the pain it causes me, Silent Hill simply gave Angela what she wanted...punishment because in her mind, she was guilty, even though none of what happened in her life was her fault. I still hope the remake does give that bonus campaign for her to get a better closure than accepting being consumed by the power of Silent Hill, but I don't have enough faith in Bloober to be able to to do that.
