  Studies have actually shown that, at least in the US (I assume a lot of other places as well but the studies I saw didn&apos;t cover that) regional accents have been growing more distinct, not less.

  I used to think the boys were american because of their accents, it wasnt until I heard them start lapsing into French that anything told me otherwise

  Being from Kansas whenever I visit other states people generally can&apos;t place me, or just say &quot;Midwestern&quot;<br>But multiple times now I&apos;ve gone to Canada, or Europe, and one time Africa and somehow someone there would hear me speak and just nail me with &quot;Kansas?   Rewatching Lexx (weird Canadian sci-fi show from the early 2000s) and just got past an episode set in Newfoundland - it gets nuked and destroyed at the end of the episode and literally nobody cares at all.
