  The segment on Tintern Abbey reminds me again that whatever his other qualities, Henry VIII and his lords were among history’s greatest vandals.

  So the family of the young lady with spinal bifida buried her there because they wanted her somewhere beautiful and meaningful. That means she was loved - deeply loved. I take great comfort in that.

  At least 2  of our ancestors are buried at Dundrennan Abbey, its heartbreaking to see these beautiful and majestic Abbeys destroyed on the whim of one man.

  I wish they would explain for the viewers how it is that these footprints are preserved instead of being washed away?

  Our cottage in Wales was close to Tintern Abbey in a tiny village  named Penallt just by the river Wye. We went often to the Abbey on a day trip out and it’s one of my fondest memories. We moved to Canada in 1969 and came back to the cottage for summers. The cottage was a 500 year old building. It was sold around 1976 and I’ve visited it since. While there I took a handful of my English professor dad’s ashes and sprinkled them there and at Tintern.

  When I was a kid watching PBS programs on ancient cathedrals, I actually thought they built them open like this. Without roofs or doors, and with grass growing inside, neatly trimmed for visitors to strole around on. <br> It didn&apos;t occur to me that they were ruins. 🥰😅🙃

  Im an old nurse and I would bet the lady buried in that position had severe contractions of her legs. I have taken care of people with those severe deformities and that would be the only way they could be buried.

  All that history and all those lives that walked there. &nbsp;I know what this sounds like. &nbsp;I&apos;m a woman combat medic veteran. &nbsp;I also do search and rescue. &nbsp;There are so many bodies out there not yet found and people have no idea what happened to them. &nbsp;There are so many unrecorded battle grounds where bodies are just waiting to be found and identified. &nbsp;And so many bodies just tossed away.

  The fact that they stripped Tintern Abbey when the decommissioned it hurts my heart! How could you do that to such a beautiful building?!

  This is so interesting. I have some rare joint conditions and always wonder what archeologists would think of my bones.
