Horrible sponsor. Save money by losing money. "Skip payments for 2 months but we still charge the interest for those 2 months so you pay more overall."

Hearing a sound is based off of our ability to receive it. Changes in pressure have a MASSIVE effect on our ability to perceive sound.

You're telling me, in 2025, we got people with fully armored vehicles that can intercept tornados; but no one has put a bunch of GoPros in a trash can and thrown it at a tornado just to see what happens?

The documentary "The Twister" on Netflix features a couple who claimed to experience the eye of the 2011 Joplin tornado. While there is no video, there is audio that's rather compelling. You can hear the tornado hit, and then there's a little break where it's more calm and you can hear people yelling for others to stay down as they thought the tornado had passed. You then hear the second half hit. They claim to have seen the sky and inner vortices in the eye.

Maybe being in the "eye" there is such a sudden pressure change that you're hearing is altered for that time. I've had a lot of problems with my ears growing up, and things like pressure changes can suddenly make it seem impossible to hear. It's just a thought- Great show, thank you!

The sudden silence makes a lot of sense if you’ve ever been in a fire fight. One second, the entire world is exploding all around you and the next, dead silence. It’s not that there is no sound, it’s that your ears are completely screwed from the noise that came before.

Totally agree that storm chasers need a camera that faces upward so we can see directly above them. Thanks for another great video!

I know someone who was inside the eye of the Joplin 2011 EF5. They were driving down in alleyway in between some houses when the tornado struck. Luckily, due to the houses, they weren’t swept away. As soon as the winds died down, they got out of the car when some guy in a shelter popped his head out and screamed at them to get in. They did, and as soon as they did, the winds picked right back up again.
