  Those situations where a large gathering of people are in a single structure with only one wall separating them from the outside are a worst case scenario for tornadoes. Great video.

  Piedmont native here. Been here all my life(mostly). This happened around my birthday, same as the big snowstorm. And I was pretty small when this happened, I just remembered my dad getting us all into our homes basement, as well as our neighbors. Then after hearing about the church my uncle Scott ran out to Goshen to help them uncover the rubble and help those buried. I know it messed with him a lot. And I remember him talking about pulling a little girl out of the rubble. I&apos;m 37 now, and about 2 years ago I worked with this girl about my age, who seemed to know all about my family. My brother, sisters, aunt uncle, grandparents. All of em. And my grandparents ran a few stores in town so they were well known in the community. So that&apos;s honestly what I thought when she told me my family&apos;s names. But it turns out she was the little girl my uncle pulled out. And was always so thankful for his help. She&apos;s my girl, love her much.

  &quot;The Dixie Jungle...&quot; Great way to describe chasing here in the south. Between the trees, low clouds, high precip...it&apos;s just an absolute mess trying to see anything here. Used to spot for Skywarn awhile back and we generally had a rule of thumb where if you found a good vantage point you just stuck with it. Seeing these chasers go into the trees with some of these storms always gets me a bit worried. Zero visibility and a rain wrapped monster down here can just roll up on you without warning.

  I remember this. I was living only 15 miles from Piedmont. Also, I was in a tornado on December 16th, 2000 in Coates Bend, Alabama (north Gadsden). I was alone in my mobile home while my then husband was with our children, Christmas shopping for me. Long story short, an F3 ripped through our home and I was thrown like a rag doll. We lost everything and I was hurt--broken arm, cut and bruised and eventually had back surgery for my hurt back. We lived in a wonderful community and I can&apos;t begin to tell you how incredible everyone was. It&apos;ll be 25 years ago this December but I can&apos;t begin to remember like it was yesterday. It&apos;s truly a miracle i survived.
