That 4 week timeline for PPD cracks me up. Women don’t even get a checkup until 6 weeks after giving birth!

50:41 this same witness said that she underreported her symptoms, so isn't it possible that she was underreporting hallucinations too?

I think too many psychiatrists and psychologists in this case straight out misled the jury about Bipolar 1 and 2 and when manic is necessary and what hypomanic is. I believe they should have been asked how many bipolar patients they've treated in the past because they either didn't have real expertise on "real world symptoms" or they purposely stuck to the DSM's version of what entails hypomanic and manic.
Not all symptoms of mania are going to fit in nicely with the broad example in the DSM. For example, they didn't mention sex drive. Not all people who are manic are going to go skydiving. Sometimes, it is starting a billion projects around your house, but not getting them finished, increased desire for sex, and yes increased exercise too. Not everyone is going to have blatant grandiose thinking, or have it at all. However, the CW's witness actually said she tried to take the kids with her because she didn't want them to live without her, I would call that grandiose.
Bipolar 2 does not require a manic episode, so that was basically a lie to the jury. As a matter of fact if you have one manic episode at any time in your life, you have Bipolar 1. You don't even need to have another manic episode. Bipolar 2 is more depressive moods, but you only get to hypomanic state. They are also leaving out the most dangerous (which I think absolutely applied to her), is mixed episodes!
Her manic state could have literally started at that moment where she heard a voice, but they are all leading the jury to think it is impossible because she didn't hear the voice before then or since. It is possible to have one manic state in your entire life, but they are using their "expertise" to lead the jury to think that she couldn't have bipolar or that she didn't have a psychotic break because she hasn't had one before that time and hasn't had one since. She's received 24/7 care and medication since then as well, so there's that.
I think they misled the jury regarding how long after giving birth her postpartum symptoms were. The baby was 8 months old, her symptoms didn't start on the day she had a psychotic break, she had been begging for help for at least 4 months according to the CW. I think the defense should have had at least one expert from the medical field because postpartum isn't solely a mental health issue and it is barely in the DSM. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists define postpartum symptoms occurring from a few days up to 12 months after giving birth. They also consider late onset of symptoms begin at 6 months up to 12 months after birth. The triggers to symptoms occurring for late-onset of symptoms are: Returning to Work, Stopping breastfeeding, Changes in hormone levels and Chronic sleep deprivation. Every single one of those issues were present and identified in during the trial.

If anything, this trial has opened the door for more women to talk about their own postpartum mental health experiences. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been amazed by the number of friends and family members who have started sharing their own stories with one another—stories of postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, and psychosis that many had never talked about before.

I guess checking yourself into the hospital seeking multiple doctors and calling a self harm line don’t count for “trying” to get help. Gaslighting 101 in this courtroom.

That has always been my issue with this case…that she magically hears this command that she cannot ignore when her husband leaves and no other time before or after.

I think she wanted to kill herself and take her kids with her but the CW botched this case so bad that they didn’t remotely get close to reaching beyond a reasonable doubt.

I read through all the comments here and across multiple platforms, lives etc and the common theme always appears to be the same - people still have too many questions which I believe is only a larger pool of the jury that sits in that courtroom like you, LYK always say!
OF COURSE, Theirs the crazies who you’d never want as a juror saying either “she was always innocent”, “she was always guilty” or even MORE insane, “her husband did it”. Those are usually the loudest voices but they are not the majority.

I’ve asked several friends and family too who’ve been closely watching this trial and all of them all quite literally all over the map.

To conclude, I believe we will have a hung jury. If we don’t, then I think she will get not guilty by reason of insanity.
But I don’t believe she will get get guilty and I certainly don’t believe she will get not guilty.

Doctors elite attitude against lawyers. They do not like being question of challenged. Imagine a patient disagreeing with this guy

Peter the back and forth between Red & Mack regarding PPP/psychosis just showed me how in the real world when someone is suffering and begging for help sometimes professionals get wrapped up in the wrong thing and the patient is the one who losses. No wonder she felt like she got the run around. I’m a MH professional and also had PPD/PPA. This feels like a mess.
