One thing I just recently connected is that in the same room where you can find the alchemists note stating she refused the orders of Ragoth you can find a female draugr corpse on a chair nearby. The corpse has a sword in their chest, seemingly executed. So not everyone in there was willing to just poison everyone.

There is a note somewhere in Forrelhost that states that Raghot has foreseen the return of Alduin. He has his followers commit mass suicide so that when Alduin returns, they can be brought back to life as Draugr to serve him again. They were concerned about Skorm and his army burning their bodies, which would prevent them from being resurrected when the time comes, so they collapsed the stairway and locked down/poisoned the well.

7:04 they always have that much arrows, it’s a great place to stock up, and also an easy way to get ancient Nord armor

An additional thing for the end of the quest, if you have the Chrysamere creation installed, you can also take on a ghost and receive the blade

i can’t remember if i heard this somewhere or if i just assumed it, but i believe this quest was made very early in the development process. i wonder if the mask/staff issue is from the developers thinking early in development that the staves would be the dragon priests symbol of power instead of the masks

I actually didn’t know this quest was vanilla until a few months back! I hadn’t encountered it until recently.
