  I remember meeting Valdar for the first time and I assumed he was going to be the bad guy in this place. After getting tricked by that dude in Anvil back in Oblivion I just assumed that any Lich quest would involve trickery.

  An underrated aspect of Bethesda games specifically elder scrolls and Skyrim is how they do their exposition dumps. I love to collect all the bound books and fill up my library. It’s just cool to be like hey I want to learn more about the Great War, and you can just acquire a book about it and read it. Also I like the mod that adds the bookstore and another that more than doubles the unique lore books.

  I remember happening upon this quest as a 'Here's a Word Wall' thing from the Graybeards - so I wasn't expecting anything, but MAN, this was a good little romp in here.

  Hevnoraak&apos;s staff is very good, and I love to rush it at early levels. The minions can be, uhhhh, ignored. I run in, take blood, and leave.<br><br>With the boss battle, I use a storm atronach staff, which you can get early. Hevnoraak uses shock spells, and the atronach is immune, so you just wait until he&apos;s done.

  Where you see him in ghost form you can whirlwind sprint and there&apos;s hidden loot up there.

I wonder why Bethesda didn&apos;t use it for the Companions quest when we are welcomed into The Circle, lol.<br><br>Hevnoraak&apos;s Staff is crazy powerful for something that can be obtained so early in the game. Late game players might not think much of this quest but for those of us that got here earlier, his staff really is broken. It just melts any enemies that get in your face and has bailed me out of multiple situations I couldn&apos;t have conquered otherwise. It&apos;s my most prized possession in the game so far.<br><br>Aura Whisper is also really nice to have. Great for hunters and vampires and anyone looking for trouble.😈

  My first dragon priest quest and you couldn&apos;t be more right about going in prepared. This dungeon kicked my ass time and again. I must have thrown my whole inventory and then some at Hevnoraak. I ended up leaving and recruited the merc follower from nearby Markarth just to get an edge on him and we wore him down. This happened on a snowy morning during Christmas break in college, very nostalgic.
