The most impactful thing about this film is when you realize it's actually a journey through this child's grief. Sinking into the swamps of sadness, not caring whether you live or die (Morla), "my hands couldn't hold onto them" (a reference to Bastion not being able to stop his mother's death). The whole premise of the Nothing is losing hope and forgetting your dreams, which is depression. This story is literally the stages of grief. 💞
(Oh, and in case you couldn't hear what he said, his mother's name that he called out into the storm is Moon Child) 💖💖

I love how movie reactors add a layer to the Neverending Story. We are watching you, watching Bastian, watching Atreyu.

Artax dying is gut wrenching no doubt but the part that always makes me cry is the rock biter scene. "They look like good, big, strong, hands. Don't they?" Gets me everytime.😢

Bastian was watching Atreyu's story unfold. You two were watching Bastian's story unfold. We all were watching your guys' story unfold. Someone/something is watching my story unfold.

We are all apart of the Neverending Story.

Imagine being a child and hearing that 😂

Just wanted to add something a bit more on the serious side. We often joke about young Gen Xers and old Millennials having grown up with traumatising media but it's actually healthier than the Disney sanitised products of today. Children need to explore more difficult emotions and doing it via safety of storytelling is the best way. NeverEnding Story is layered for a reason. It's a tale of power of dreams and imagination but it's also a way to learn dealing with grief.

Artax is a solid 20% of the honest answer to "Why is Gen X like that?"

I would highly recommend Jim Henson’s ‘The Dark Crystal’ if you enjoyed this! The puppetry is phenomenal and the fantasy tale is enthralling.

I always felt like Bastian was the inspiration for Will's character in Stranger Things

The fourth wall break is amazing. You must make sure to show this film to your kids to keep the chain going.
