  Anybody who’s ever been trapped in an abusive relationship could’ve been in a cult. The dynamics are actually very similar, to the point that cults regularly target people in or just getting out of abusive relationships

  As a Costa Rican, I just want to add some context, they started in Limon in Costa Rica which is not only rural, its also where most of the Black people live in the country. Black people who also speak English. And yet, he didnt recurit them, bc those people know just because ur in the jungle you aint in no utopia for black people.<br>There are also a looooooot of Black American immigrants in Limon. Immigration there is not like ICE, they dont really &nbsp;be running people down. They might give you trouble at the boarder but go FIND you is crazy

  I think Black Americans are particularly vulnerable to hotep/pseudo-historical cults/movements because many of us desperately want connection to our roots in a way that just isn’t available to us. Many of us both idealize and dehumanize indigeneity in a way that makes us feel entitled to appropriate the cultural practices with no real connection or understanding for it. Nature Boy is like Malachi York, Mother Superior, the Hebrew Israelites, even the Nation of Islam🌚..

  Misogyny and the specific abuse and subjugation of black women being the main draw of the cult, is why i side eye every single person that joined that demon. It took the white police state to lock him up and put an end to his terrorizing of black women. The so called black community policing was nowhere to be found. Instead, they defended, joined and sent him money. Even the victim who came forward for the case to proceed, had to be convinced to press charges, talking about a &quot;i don&apos;t want to put another black man in prison&quot; &nbsp;bullshit.

  The only thing that would save me from a cult is I’m too much a creature of comfort. I’m not getting up at 3:30am in the morning to meet the cult leader. I can’t live without central air and my bed. Living outside where would be a no good because mosquitos and ticks love me too much. I would be a horrible cult member.
