  Your joking about eating Labkaus without teeth has a serious background.<br><br>In former times sailors often got scurvy and one of the effects has been a loss of teeth. So cooking on board or in harbor cities has often been mushy food. This was not restricted to Germany - the nickname for citizens of liverpool even today is scoucers - from a meal, very similar to labskaus..<br><br>The two of you, toasting with beer in a bottle and a fish roll must be the most Northern German thing ever...

  I am a travel-loving person who hasn’t traveled anywhere since COVID. So please, share anything that interested YOU during your visit. If it interested you, it is sure to interest at a good number of your visitors. I’m enjoying visiting places through others who visit interesting places. I love the idea of seeing a bit of each state over a period of time. I’ve been to Germany once, in 2016, where we traveled along the Moselle, the Rhine and the Danube on a river cruise that was music based. I really enjoyed it, and we saw some beautiful little towns, plus a few larger ones. We visited cities/towns like Trier, Bernkastel-Kues, Rüdesheim, Wertheim, Bamberg, and Nuremberg. It was both lovely and interesting.

  Come back for the Weihnachtsmarkt and eat Grünkohl. That&apos;s another Northern German dish ya won&apos;t see in German restaurants in the USA

  Bremen is the city my gr-grandfather departed for America way back in 1866. &nbsp;His home village of Ostereistedt was about 20 miles northeast of Bremen.
