I am a certified Trauma/ICU/LifeFlight nurse. I am qualified to say that the 50 BMG muzzle blast damage would not hurt you. It will instantly kill, but it will not hurt.

I once had a .357 revolver malfunction which resulted in an accidental discharge with my thumb and middle fingers on top of the cylinder gap. The gun was pointed in a safe direction, but I had a bit of a panic as I could not feel my thumb or finger. I was wearing cloth gloves at the time. There were small holes burned through the gloves where the gap was. I removed the glove and saw that I still had all my fingers and no blood was visible, but I still had no feeling at all in the tips of the affected fingers. The feeling started to return after several hours. It did not remove any tissue from the fingers.

Today I learned that if you get shot point blank with a 50BMG you will probably die. Thank you for the information I will now remember to not look into the barrel of a Barrett

4:53 There is no gas from the rear of the cylinder because the case expands slightly when the cartridge is fired sealing the chamber. It is more efficient (by design) because all the products of combustion are forced forward.

Yall had the best opportunity on that last shot to say “how it feels to chew 5 gum in 3, 2, 1” on that last shot and blew it

There is a story of a tank crew in WWII firing their main gun to get rid of enemy infantry around their tank with the blast from the muzzle break.

It could be interesting to look at the power of blanks. Some guy in an interview who prepared movie weapons told the blast could destroy a water melon and the blast could damage things over a few meter.
