When Grace and Rocky reunite, Rocky actually says: “Grace? You’re here? You came back. You saved me. You saved Erid!”

One tiny detail I love is when towards the middle of the film, Rocky and Grace are talking to Mary and she replies "You're welcome Dr. Grace" and then Rocky says "Thank you Mary" and she replies "You're welcome Rocky." Which means Grace took the time to update the ship manifest to include Rocky, so he could officially be part of the crew, and thus Mary would speak to him.

You eject the bodies into space for the same reason you dump them overboard at sea. Because without proper morgue facilities to store the bodies on ice, they decompose (which you can see they were already doing) And a rotting body makes the area around it toxic. Not good in a sealed atmosphere with limited breathable air. So, out they go.

The Gold Record is on the Voyager probes. In this movie the astronauts were never supposed to return to Earth, so the gold plates on the walls are there for whomever finds the ship floating through space to know where it came from. Just like the golden record.

To answer your question, Rocky’s planet had way more time left than Earth did. It’s closer to its sun than Mercury is and has an extremely thick atmosphere similar to Venus as well as more than double Earth’s gravity, so it can retain its heat for far longer. Rocky had actually been in the Tau Ceti system for over 40 years before Grace arrived.

Rocky is a engineer and Grace is a scientist so they work well as a team.

Find someone to be brave for. And he found rocky. Best friends worlds apart.

Rocky was stranded in space for 46 years before Grace arrived….Grace wasn’t even born yet when Rocky arrived at Tau Ceti

Not sure why, but watching Grace and Rockie teaming up together in this film after learning that the Artemis II crew named a bright lunar crater "Carroll" after Commander Reid Wiseman’s late wife made me cry even more! 🪨👎🏻

The movie started off with Grace teaching his students back on Earth about Sound Waves (How Eridians see things)
And it ends with Grace teaching Eridian kids about Light (How Humans see things)
Poetic, truly!
